# Limit by Email

Limiting participation by email address restricts users to a single play with an email address. 

||| Please note you must include an email address field within your data collection form for this to work.

You can define the limitation to:

* A specific number of  plays
* Reset that limitation of plays every X number of hours
* Reset that limitation of plays every day at a specific time

You can also determine the **Title** and **Description** that is displayed to users if they try to play again. 

# Automatic alias detection

Drimify automatically detects common email aliasing tricks so the same mailbox cannot re-enter under a different spelling of its own address. When comparing a new entry against previous participations:

* Capitalisation is ignored (`User@example.com` = `user@example.com`)
* "+" tags are ignored for all providers (`user+contest2@example.com` = `user@example.com`)
* For Gmail addresses, dots in the name are ignored (`u.s.e.r@gmail.com` = `user@gmail.com`), and `googlemail.com` is treated as `gmail.com`

The participant's email is stored and exported exactly as they typed it — the normalisation only applies to the duplicate check.

|| Please note that while enabling this option limits users to a single play with their email address, it won’t stop some users playing again with a different, genuinely separate email address. Where prizes are concerned, it’s worth including a section about how many plays users are allowed in your terms and conditions.
