Limit by Email

Limiting participation by email address restricts users to a single play with an email address.

Please note you must include an email address field within your data collection form for this to work.

You can define the limitation to:

  • A specific number of plays
  • Reset that limitation of plays every X number of hours
  • Reset that limitation of plays every day at a specific time

You can also determine the Title and Description that is displayed to users if they try to play again.

Automatic alias detection

Drimify automatically detects common email aliasing tricks so the same mailbox cannot re-enter under a different spelling of its own address. When comparing a new entry against previous participations:

  • Capitalisation is ignored (User@example.com = user@example.com)
  • "+" tags are ignored for all providers (user+contest2@example.com = user@example.com)
  • For Gmail addresses, dots in the name are ignored (u.s.e.r@gmail.com = user@gmail.com), and googlemail.com is treated as gmail.com

The participant's email is stored and exported exactly as they typed it — the normalisation only applies to the duplicate check.

Please note that while enabling this option limits users to a single play with their email address, it won’t stop some users playing again with a different, genuinely separate email address. Where prizes are concerned, see Can I make sure each person wins only once?
