What are participations, and how does Drimify count them?

A participation is counted when a user has actively interacted with a game or experience. If no screens appear before the game itself — such as a start screen, data collection form, or terms page — the participation is counted as soon as the game loads and the user begins playing.

This is the metric used to measure your plan's monthly usage. Your plan includes a set number of participations per month, and your campaign is paused if you exceed it.

How do I estimate the right number of monthly participations?

The right number of participations depends on the size of your audience and the type of campaign you're running. Here are some examples to guide you:

Small businesses

Marie works in a company with 50 employees and wants to run a monthly internal experience.

  • With a typical engagement rate of 60–70%, she can expect around 40 participations per month.
  • The Free plan covers this comfortably.
  • If Marie also runs an external social media campaign reaching 20,000 people, she might expect 5–10% engagement — between 1,000 and 2,000 participations. The Starter plan would cover both her internal and external needs.

Medium-sized businesses

Ryan works in a company with more than 500 employees and wants to offer a monthly internal experience.

  • With a 60–70% engagement rate, he can expect around 350 participations.
  • The Starter plan is a solid fit.
  • If Ryan also wants to run an internal Dynamic Path™ experience of 10 steps for the onboarding of 50 new employees per year, that adds 500 more participations (50 employees × 10 steps).
  • If Ryan also runs an external campaign targeting 50,000 people at 5–10% engagement, he could see 2,500–5,000 additional participations. The Growth plan provides the headroom needed.

Large businesses

Melissa works in a company with over 5,000 employees and wants to offer monthly internal experiences.

  • Large-scale internal programmes, multi-step onboarding paths, and recurring external campaigns can easily generate tens of thousands of participations per month.
  • The Growth plan is well suited here.
  • For very high-traffic external campaigns — for example, reaching 1 million people — participations can reach 50,000–100,000 or more. For these volumes, an Enterprise plan is recommended.

Very large businesses

Camille works in a company with over 50,000 employees and runs multiple gamification campaigns year-round.

  • Between large-scale internal programmes, onboarding experiences, company events, and major external campaigns, usage can reach hundreds of thousands of participations per month.
  • For these needs, contact us about an Enterprise plan tailored to your scale.

Our aim is to offer plans that grow with you — from your first pilot to enterprise-level rollouts.

What happens if I exceed my monthly participations limit?

Drimify uses a soft limit approach. As your usage increases, you will receive email notifications at 60%, 80%, and 100% of your monthly participations quota. If you exceed the limit, your campaign will be paused.

You can upgrade your plan at any time directly from your Drimify dashboard. Upgrading before you hit 100% ensures your campaign runs without interruption.

Contact us if you have a high-traffic project and need a tailored offer.

How many users can connect simultaneously?

As part of our fair use policy, we recommend a maximum of 100 connections per minute across all plans.

If you need higher throughput — 500, 1,000, 5,000 connections per minute or more — contact us to discuss an adapted offer.

Can I limit the number of participations per person?

Yes. You have several options:

  • Limit to once per IP address
  • Limit to once per email address
  • Limit to once per custom format
  • Limit to once per time period (e.g. once every 12 or 24 hours)

You can also:

  • Exclude specific IPs via a blacklist
  • Restrict or enable participation by country

These settings are configured in the Settings step of each application from your Drimify dashboard.

What's the difference between "Views" and "Participations" in my statistics?

In your Drimify statistics dashboard, Views and Unique Views remain unchanged — they reflect how many times your experience was loaded or visited. These are purely analytics metrics and are not related to billing.

Participations is your billing metric: it counts genuine user interactions with the game, and determines your monthly quota usage.
