Combine apps with the Combo™

The Combo™ allows you to offer a longer and more immersive user experience. You can offer several games or interactive modules in a sequence that will keep your participants engaged for longer.

Check out our 7-minute masterclass to learn the fundamentals of using the Drimify platform.

How does the Combo™ work?

The Combo allows you to combine apps and deliver users from one game to the next, and so on and so forth.

The Combo™ is compatible with almost every game and experience available in the Drimify catalogue, with the exception of the Advent Calendar, Dynamic Path™, Leaderboard Combo™ and another Combo™.

How does the Combo™ differ from the Dynamic Path™?

The Combo™ and the Dynamic Path™ share a lot of similarities, but the main difference is that when the user plays through a Combo™, they go directly from game to game, the Dynamic Path™ will see users returned to the path, or visual representation of the digital journey and their progress, after each completed step.

Configuring the Combo™

The first step will be to determine the graphic style of your Combo™. Like all Drimify apps, you need to set the theme, logo, background, and potentially advanced customisation features if they're included in your plan. Depending on how you configure your Combo™, players will at least see its end screen, so you'll want its branding to match the visual language of the apps it's combining.

Once you've created the apps you want to combine in your Drimify dashboard, you can add them to your Combo™. You do this by heading to the Game Configuration creation step, and selecting which game you want from the "Select an existing app" option.

The "Add a game" button below allows you add as many games to the Combo™ as you like.

Once you've added all the relevant apps, you can make adjustments to the sequence or remove games using the drag-and-drop and bin icons at the top right of each featured app.

In the Game Configuration step, you can also:

Enable or disable the password protected access feature for each level (you can encourage users to head to your strategic website pages, or explore a physical location to find a password)
Control the weighting factor for the global scoring of each game
Activation and deactivation dates for each app
Control prize winning limits globally if you're including instant win games

What the user sees in the Combo™

The Combo™ combines other apps, so it's less seen by the end user and is more of the framework, so while it's of paramount importance that each individual app is fully polished and tested, you cannot neglect the Combo™'s appearance or settings. If you think of your overall experience as a house, and each app as the bricks, the Combo™ is your cement - it needs to be finished, smoothed, and set properly for the whole thing to work optimally.

Important elements to consider include:
Your start screen (optional)
The data collection form (optional)
The end screen

The advantage of your data collection screen in your Combo™ is that you can have participants play through multiple games, but only fill in one form at the beginning, and have that identifying information follow through on the data exports for the other games, i.e. if they included their email address in the Combo™ data collection form, it will be included on the data export of an instant win, or Pacman game, etc. If you want users to play through your games in a direct sequence, this is an ideal solution.

Pro tip: The less screens, scrolling, or clicks users have to make, the better the conditions are for high completion rates. You can have data collection screens within the games included in your Combo™, but if you want them played in a sequence on the Combo™, one data collection form at the beginning is optimum. If you wanted to unify separate experiences with their own forms in some way, a better option might be the Leaderboard Combo™ app, which aggregates user scores by an identifier of your choice.

How the leaderboard works in the Combo™

It is necessary to configure the leaderboard in the settings creation step. This allows you to manage different elements of the table:

Participant display: The way the player's name is displayed in the table: full name, abbreviated name, unique identifier, user name, anonymous, or based on a file you provide us in JSON format.

Maximum number of entries displayed: How many entries and rows in the table are to be displayed on the leaderboard between 5 and 100.

The leaderboard will take into account the scores of each participant and the weighting of each application.

Weighting

If you're including a global leaderboard as part of your Combo™, It is also necessary to create a weighting according to the type of applications available (if you use different games). Each game earns a different number of points, so it is necessary to weight the results. For example, games like 2048 and Pacman can earn an enormous amount of points compared to some others. Weighting the games allows you to assign equal value to modules across the whole experience.

The weighting of the different applications can be done in the Combo™'s game configuration creation step for each application.
